The 17th Annual River of Light Lantern Parade
Saturday, December 5th, 2026. Leaving Brookside Primary School at 5:00PM sharp! Students whose lanterns are at the school should arrive at 4:30 to collect their lanterns and poles and get in line in front of the school. All other participants, arrive with your lanterns and get in line no later than 4:45.
We proceed up Stowe Street, take a right turn on Main Street, and wend our way into Dac Rowe Park. There will be fire spinners, warming fires, hot chocolate, and music. Dress for the weather! Fingers crossed it will be perfect.
This year's theme is THE GREAT OUTDOORS. ...That black bear on your front porch? The mosquito the size of a minivan in your camping tent? The icky bright green hornworms on your tomato plants? A swarm of Leaf Peepers climbing through your back yard? Let this year's theme be your inspiration!
About A River of Light
Every December since 2010, community members of all ages have been coming together to celebrate and participate in the excitement of the River of Light Lantern Parade and festivities! In addition to enjoying the lengthy stream of enchanting lanterns, community members can gather at the parade's destination for hot chocolate, a bonfire, and entertainment such as Cirque de Fuego - fire spinners. Past years have included Burlington's street Samba band, Sambatucada, which has led the procession and are often joined by Burlington's Brass Balagan. This is a great night of community gathering and family fun!
