Wood Shop

We did it! The woodshop move was completed on July 19!

 

Thank you to everyone who came out to lend a hand for the relocation of the  MakerSphere shop. Our new woodshop addresss is 1727 Guptil Road, Waterbury Center (the former ambulance service building).

​

The shop will reopen to members October 1st. Classes now open for registration include Beginner Woodworking for Women and Youth Woodworking Afterschool for grades 6 - 8. The 7-week Beginner Woodworking Certification Class is full but join the waitlist to secure a seat for the next class coming soon. View classes here.

The MakerSphere Wood Shop & Maker Space recently relocated to 1727 Guptil Road in Waterbury Center. Classes, workshops and the membership program will resume in September/October 2025. 

 

MakerSphere offers woodworking programs including Beginner Woodworking Certification classes, Beginner Women's Woodworking, and workshops for all skill levels. 

The MakerSphere Wood Shop includes a wide variety of hand tools and machines including:

table saw

drill press

routers and routing table

planer

jointer

miter saw

band saws

disc and disc belt sander

oscillating spindle sander

nail guns

Monthly Woodshop Membership - Available October 1, 2025

​

MakerSphere also offers monthly wood shop memberships. Adults 18 and over may register to become a monthly member.

 

Membership gives individuals access to the wood shop and all the tools on which they have been trained. Members may access the shop during scheduled staffed hours. Shop staff or instructors are present to oversee activities, assist members with questions, and ensure safe operation of machines and tools.

Cost of Membership is $75 per month. Enrollment in the autopay system is required. Cancel anytime.​​​

Qualifications

There are two options to qualify for membership:

Individuals must have completed the 7-Week Beginner Woodworking Certification Course
OR, experienced woodworkers 
may schedule an assessement to validate experience. 

​

Assessment for Experienced Woodworkers

Experienced woodworkers may schedule an assessment rather than take the certification class. Individuals must first complete the assessment application form. Once completed, the remainder of the assessment is conducted in person at the shop. There is a fee of $100 for the two-hour assessment. Click here to access the Assessment Form.
