Staff for Middleschool Afterschool Programs 2025-2026

Age group - grades 5 - 8
One day per week; approx 2 hours (see below)
Classes run in 7-week sessions

Afterschool program staff is needed for middleschoolers in grades 5 - 8 for the 2025-2026 school year. Classes considered include cooking, fiber arts, clay, and all art and crafting topics, Instructors choose and plan curriculum.
Classes run in separate 7-week sessions. There is flexibility to teach one or more sessions. ​
Location: Crossett Brook Middle School OR MakerSphere Waterbury Center (depending on class topic)
Classes run once per week. Hours: classes at CBMS typically run from 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm. Classes at MakerSphere run from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Instructors must arrive 30 minutes prior.
Compensation: $25/hour including 30 minutes of prep time
Experience: A teaching certificate is not required. Individuals who have experience working with children and enjoy art and making preferred.

Instructors for Adult Programs

Woodworking Instructors
Seeking experienced woodworkers to teach workshops and/or classes for adults. Teach a specific skill, a DIY home improvement / repair, or a project-based class or workshop. Instructors needed for all levels of workworking. Opportunities for a number of programs that vary in length/hours/schedule. Compensation range: $35/$40 per hour

Shop Stewards for Wood Shop
​Experienced woodworkers are also needed for the role of shop steward to oversee members using the woodshop. This is a volunteer position in which stewards receive open shop access in exchange for volunteer hours.

Sewing & Fiber Arts Instructors
MakerSphere will soon have access to a space that will be solely dedicated to fiber arts and sewing. Instructors are needed for all fiber art/sewing related workshops and classes. Compensation range: $35/$40 per hour.
