Lantern Building Workshops

Lantern building workshops are free to attend. However, donations are gratefully accepted on our support page. Spaces are limited for workshops and therefore registration is required to reserve a space. Please register soon as spaces fill quickly!

November 4th and 5th

Artists Lantern Building - Brookside Primary School

Saturday, November 4th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and

Sunday, November 5th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm 

This is a workshop for building a larger scale lantern on the parade theme; Toys and Games. On Saturday, begin building your large-scale lantern using willow, tape, and ingenuity. Work on lantern design, how to carry it, and lighting options. On Sunday, continue working on lanterns inclusive of papering.

The workshop is free to attend, but donations are always helpful and are gladly accepted!

November 11

Family Large Scale Lantern Building - Brookside Primary School

Saturday, November 11th, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm  

This workshop is for family groups to work together to create a larger scale lantern. Previous experience is highly recommended. Limited to 6 family groups.

November 12

Community Lantern Building - Brookside Primary School

Two separate sessions; choose one:
Sunday,
November 11th

Session 1 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm  or

Session 2 - 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

(Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult)

Work with artists Mame McKee, Sarah-Lee Terrat, and MK Monley to build a simple lantern to carry in the 14th annual River of Light Lantern Parade on Saturday, December 2nd, 5:00pm in downtown Waterbury..
